It was announced that regular invitation rounds for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) and the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189), both of which are Family-Sponsored visas, will be held during the 2022-23 program year.
The number of applicants that are selected for an interview during each round will determine the proportion of applicants who are offered an invitation. The most recent round of invitations resulted in the issuance of a total of 12,666 invitations for the following subclasses:
Restrictions on Professions Allowed in Invitational Rounds
There is a possibility that invitations for skilled regional (provisional) and independent visas could be subject to an "occupation ceiling." This would limit the number of people who could be granted these visas. indicating that there will be a limit placed on the maximum number of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) that can be requested for skilled migration from a particular group that is affiliated with a specific occupation. This ensures that the equilibrium of the skilled migration program is preserved and that it can continue to invite aspirant migrants who come from a wide variety of skilled occupations.
Ceiling standards for occupations are determined by a percentage of stock employment numbers for each occupation. Figures and an indication of the number of people employed in Australia in each profession are provided by the Australian Bureau of Statistics Employment.
When it comes to the State or Territory Nominated or Investment visa subclasses, as well as the Business Innovation visa subclasses, occupation caps do not apply.
