The 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Australia

From February 4 through February 20, 2022, Australia participated in the Olympic Winter Games held in Beijing, China. [1][2]
There were a total of 43 athletes on the Australian team, 21 men and 22 women, who competed in ten different sports. This represented a decrease of seven athletes compared to the previous year, 2018. [3] Alpine skier Madison Hoffman was chosen, but she withdrew due to an injury to her anterior cruciate ligament. [4] During the opening ceremony, Brendan Kerry and Laura Peel were tasked with the responsibility of carrying the nation's flag. Sami Kennedy-Sim, a freestyle skier, served as the flagbearer for the event's closing ceremony. [6][7]
Because it takes sixteen (16) strokes to write the first character in Simplified Chinese, it was placed in the antepenultimate position in the Parade of Nations before the host nation of the next Winter Olympics (Italy) and before the host nation (China) as a result of the stroke count used in Simplified Chinese. 澳 ) of its original name in Chinese, more than any other country that participated.
With Australia's fourth medal at the games, won by Jaclyn Narracott in the women's skeleton competition on February 12th, the nation broke its previous record for the most total medals won at a single Winter Olympics competition.

In the men's cross-country skiing competition, Australia qualified three athletes, including two women, and added one more male quota through reallocation. [9]
The men's 50-kilometer freestyle race scheduled for February 19 was reduced to a 30-kilometer distance due to strong winds and unfavorable weather conditions. [10]

The mixed doubles competition was one of the events that the Australian curling team participated in. The team consisted of two athletes, one of each gender. This was the nation's first time competing in the sport at the Olympic level. [11] The squad finished with a record of two wins and seven losses, which was not good enough to advance to the medal round.

At the last Olympic Qualification Event, the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, Australia was successful in securing one quota for both the men's and women's singles competitions.

As a result of their performance during the 2021–2022 season of the Luge World Cup, Australia qualified one sled for the men's singles competition. [15][16]

One of Australia's male short track speed skaters has qualified for the Olympics. In January of 2022, Brendan Corey was selected for inclusion on the team. [18]
