It's easy to feel a little bit overwhelmed at the thought of a DIY job when thinking about setting up home internet service because of all the technical lingo that comes along with it, not to mention all the devices, sockets, and wires that go along with it. As a result, in order to alleviate some of the stress associated with setting up home Wi-Fi for the nbn, we here at MATE have compiled an easy-to-follow guide on how to do so. You can use either your existing or a new modem to configure a new nbn connection. Let's get stuck in
To begin, what exactly is a modem?
Before we get into the specifics of how to install a new NBN connection in your home, we should probably go over a particularly important definition from the glossary: modem. You can consider a modem to be the portal through which all of your internet-capable devices are able to communicate with the worldwide web. In addition to this, it decides the maximum number of devices that can be connected to the internet at any given time.
Up until fairly recently, the typical home internet setup typically consisted of both a modem and a router in order to provide access to the internet. The good news is that many nbn-compatible modems can actually perform the functions of both the modem and the router. and the router, thereby relieving you of the responsibility of worrying about a separate device.

1. Ensure that you have a plan for the internet.

Don't worry if you don't have an NBN connection box; the type of NBN connection you have will almost certainly not require one. 5. Changing the Wi-Fi network name and establishing a new administrative password
