The cost of using Standard Post is determined by factors such as the size, weight, and destination of your item. For specific pricing details, refer to our postal rate information.

Ensuring quality of service
The quality of our mail service is regulated by ComReg, also known as the Commission for Communications Regulation. ComReg sets performance standards and monitors compliance with these standards. Every year, they release a report detailing the results of their monitoring efforts. You can access the latest performance statistics for 2019.
Key information to be aware of
Wondering how long it takes for your item to be delivered via Standard Post? Delivery times vary depending on the destination. Within Ireland, Standard Post items are delivered on the next working day. For international items, expect a delivery window of three to seven working days.
If you require faster delivery, you can explore our alternative services such as Same Day Delivery or International Courier.
Do you wish to track your post or parcel? Please note that the tracking service is available solely for parcels within the Republic of Ireland.
Is it necessary to include a return address? It is always essential to include a return address. In the event that we are unable to deliver your item, we will promptly return it to you.
What items are prohibited or restricted? Due to increased airline security measures, we are no longer able to accept ink or toner cartridges. Please refer to the comprehensive list of items restricted from outbound international mail services by visiting our website.
What should I know about posting items internationally? When sending packets or parcels to destinations outside the European Union, a completed customs declaration is required. You can obtain the necessary customs forms from your local post office. An Post offers two types of customs forms:
- The CP72 form, which should be used for parcels or items valued above €300.
- The CN22 form, which is required for all other items.
In addition, an Aviation Security Declaration must be attached to any packet or parcel containing goods sent within the EU, except for Northern Ireland. This is to ensure compliance with airline security regulations.

In Zone 5, the rates for different postal items are as follows:
- For a letter or postcard weighing up to 100 grams, the cost is €2.20.
- A large envelope in the same weight range will cost €5.50.
- For a packet weighing up to 100 grams, the charge is €15.50.
- The price for a parcel in the same weight range is €36.00.
For a weight of 250 grams, the rates are as follows:
- A letter or postcard will cost €9.00.
- The charge for a large envelope is €18.00.
- The cost of a packet remains at €36.00.
A weight of 500 grams will incur the following charges:
- €13.00 for a letter or postcard.
- €22.50 for a large envelope.
- The charge for a packet remains at €36.00.
For a weight of 1 kilogram, the rates are as follows:
- €27.00 for a letter or postcard.
- €41.00 for a large envelope.
The rates continue to increase for higher weights. A weight of 1.5 kilograms will cost €36.00 for a letter or postcard, and €49.00 for a large envelope. For a weight of 2 kilograms, the charges are €45.00 and €57.00, respectively. The price for a weight of 2.5 kilograms is €65.00. The rates continue to increase in increments, reaching €105.00 for a weight of 5 kilograms.
If the weight exceeds 5 kilograms, an additional charge of €15.00 per kilogram will apply, up to a maximum weight of 20 kilograms.
