If you're planning to build a deck, don't forget to consider the necessary footing requirements and measurements. These can vary depending on the load and dimensions of your deck. While you can find all this information in AS 1684 and AS 2870, a quicker and cheaper option is to check with your local building authority.
When it comes to casting concrete footings, there are two methods you can use. The first involves embedding a VUETRADE™ Post Support into wet concrete, with a minimum clearance of 75mm between the post and base support. It's important to follow these guidelines to avoid premature rotting in the timber post.
The second method is to embed the post directly into the concrete footing. However, this is only recommended for specific species of timber and requires filling the holes with coarse gravel before pouring the concrete.
