The Greens logo

The Greens are on track to overtake other parties as the most significant in Australia, maintaining the balance of power in the legislature.

By voting 1 By supporting Labor over the Liberals and the Greens in the Lower House and Senate, you are voting to:

  • Choose Green Party representatives to stand up for the causes you support.
  • Stop the 114 new coal and gas projects that the Libs and Labor are supporting.
  • Increase the Greens' parliamentary influence
  • Help remove Scott Morrison and the Liberals from office
  • Aid in the election of a Labor government

Only our party is fighting to halt the 114 new coal and gas projects that Labor and the Liberals both support.

We want to fix the housing crisis, include dental and mental health coverage in Medicare, and eliminate student loan debt.

Vote for what you believe in during this election.

Abandon the Liberals with your vote.

Climate voting Vote 1 Greens

Option 1

Our recommended voting order is on the Greens' how-to-vote card. Following this card will increase the number of progressive MPs in Parliament who will advocate for your values and give us the best chance of winning.

In any Australian Federal seat, the Greens do not favor the Liberals. According to the Green Party's how-to-vote guide, Labor will receive your preference over the Liberals.

Our voter guide will advise you to:

  1. Vote 1 Greens
  2. put Labor ABOVE the Liberals, and then

Your vote can therefore continue to support the election of a Labor government and the defeat of the Liberals if the Greens do not win your local seat.

Option 2

Preferential voting is used in Australia, where voters indicate their preferences by numbering the checkboxes.

You will directly elect the person you rank first:
1 If your favorite doesn't prevail,
2 Your secondary preference is taken into consideration.
3 Your third selection will be taken into account if they lose. And so on

Your preferences or the outcome of your vote are not controlled by political parties. They merely give you a how-to-vote card at the polls and advise you what to do. You are entirely free to decide whether to use that card.

If you share our desire to expel the Liberals, do the following:

  1. Vote 1 Greens
  2. You get to decide who goes next.
  3. Make sure to order Labor higher than the Liberals when counting the other boxes.

By doing so, your vote can continue to support the election of a Labor government and the defeat of the Liberals if the Greens do not win your local seat.

The voting process in Australia and why there are no wasted votes

On the Lower House green ballot paper, we urge people to cast their votes. 1 Greens first, then rank the remaining boxes according to your preferences.

On the Senate white ballot paper, we urge voters to cast their ballots. 1 Greens above the line, and then rank at least five additional boxes according to preference.

The Greens succeed?

Yes We have candidates running for every seat across the nation, and we have a chance to add new seats to the Senate and Lower House. The Greens are poised to become Australia's most potent third party in this election. Every level of government already has Greens representatives, and in the ACT, we share power with Labor.

If you vote 1 Greens, we can force the Liberals out and tip the scales in our favor.

In the Balance of Power, the Greens will address the cost of living by adding dental and mental health coverage to Medicare, resolving the housing affordability crisis, and eliminating student debt. We will also take action on climate change by halting the development of new coal and gas mines.

It's closer than you think to change.

How can I ensure that my vote is not wasted?

Have you ever heard the phrase "a vote for a minor party is a wasted vote"? Not true The major parties, which favor maintaining the current two-party system, are using this as a scare tactic.

Because of Australia's preferential voting system, you cannot waste your vote. You may vote. 1 if your first choice doesn't win, cast your second choice for the party you believe most closely adheres to your values. 2 Voting (preference) results will be tallied and more. Providing your is of no cost to you. 1 elect a small party

The Australian Electoral Commission explains how you cannot "waste" your vote in this video.

Will supporting the Greens benefit Labor or the Liberals?

The scare tactic that "a vote for the Greens is a vote for the Liberals" has been used in the past is an outright lie. Voting for the Greens benefits them It gives us more parliamentary clout to advocate for you.

Your vote is what counts. 1 Greens, and then make sure Labor is placed above the Liberals so that, in the event the Greens lose their local seat, your vote will support Labor rather than the Liberals.

How can I prevent my vote from supporting the Liberals?

You can use our how-to-vote card to help remove the Liberals from office.

But it's simple: Cast a ballot. 1 Green, and make sure to rank Labor higher than the Liberals. Your vote can be cast for Labor rather than the Liberals if the Greens lose in your local election.

How do preference deals work?

There isn't a secret deal where parties exchange votes after you cast your ballot.

The "preference deals" merely concern who is given a more prominent position on each party's how-to-vote card. This is significant because many people opt to follow those cards, but it is entirely up to you whether you do.

Who are you quoting?

Labor is preferred by the Greens over the Liberals. You won't vote for the Liberals if you use a Greens how-to-vote card.

The Liberals, Palmer's United Australia Party, and One Nation are now last in Australia, according to the Greens. Your vote can help elect a Labor government and force the Liberals out of office if the Greens don't win your local seat.

Do the Greens and Liberals have a deal?

No The Greens desire to expel the Liberals.

On our how-to-vote cards distributed throughout Australia, we have placed the Liberal Party, Palmer's United Australia Party, or One Nation last.

Who selects the information for the Greens' voter guide?

The Australian Greens party, which includes Greens members in local branches, decides the order of preferences on our how-to-vote cards. Not candidates, neither MPs

Did you converse with all parties during preference negotiations?

No We have no need to communicate with organizations like One Nation or Palmer's United Australia Party. We are aware of who they are and want them to leave.

On our how-to-vote cards throughout Australia, the Greens have placed the Liberals, Palmer's United Australia Party, or One Nation last. It is obvious.
