Over one million residents of Queensland have now connected their COVID-19 digital document to the Check In Qld application in order to live life to the maximum starting from 17 December.
Minister for Digital Economy Leeanne Enoch stated that associating your COVID-19 digital document with the Check in Qld app is the simplest way to prepare for the upcoming restrictions that will be implemented in just a few weeks.
"Beginning on Friday (17 December), all individuals in Queensland, as well as visitors, will be required to present evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status as a condition for entry to numerous businesses and establishments," Ms. Enoch explained.
"We have updated the Check In Qld app so that you can connect your COVID-19 digital document from the My Gov website or the Medicare Express application.
"This means that you can check in and simultaneously demonstrate your vaccination status when you visit businesses and establishments throughout the state, making it faster and easier for both patrons and businesses.
"This is about being able to continue engaging in activities that we enjoy, whether it's visiting a cafe, restaurant, bar, or club, attending a sporting event or theme park, or enjoying a live music venue, a gallery owned by the Queensland Government, museum, or library.
"Businesses can return to operating at full capacity, and patrons can relish in our exquisite Queensland way of life.
"This is particularly crucial as we approach Christmas, a time when many of us relish being out and about and visiting loved ones and friends."
Individuals can link their document to the app via the Medicare Express Plus app or the Medicare portal on the myGov website, with instructions provided within the app on how to do so.
Minister Enoch mentioned that connecting your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check In Qld app is optional.
"People can also save a duplicate of their COVID-19 digital document to their Apple wallet or Google Pay to display, or provide a printed version of their immunization history statement if they prefer," she added.
Starting from December 17, proof of vaccination will be required at numerous locations and establishments across Queensland, including:
- Visitors to hospitals, residential aged care, disability accommodations, and prisons
- Hospitality venues such as hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants, or cafes
- Indoor entertainment venues such as nightclubs, live music venues, karaoke bars, concerts, theaters, or cinemas
- Outdoor entertainment venues such as sports stadiums and theme parks
- Festivals - indoor and outdoor - such as music festivals, folk festivals, or arts festivals
- Queensland Government-owned galleries, museums, or libraries.
