TP-Link VR1600v

To configure your TP-Link VR1600v for use with NBN FTTB/N, either read the instructions that are provided below or watch the video.

First, ensure you have:

  • You should plug in your NBN modem, as this is a message from us to you.
  • An electrical outlet located close to the wall jack for your telephone.
  1. Establish a connection between the Power Port on your modem and an available electrical outlet using the power cables.
  2. Establish a connection between the gray DSL port located on your modem and the telephone wall socket using the phone cable that was provided.
  3. Activate the power outlet that your modem is plugged into, and then press the button labeled "Power" on the modem itself.
  4. Please wait fifteen minutes for your modem to automatically connect after it has started up.
  5. Make sure that all of the lights on your modem are working properly. If the Internet indicator on the panel is lit up in green, you are free to begin connecting your devices and going online.
  6. Simply connect the Ethernet cables to any one of the four yellow LAN ports on your modem to add more devices that can be connected to your network through Ethernet cables.
  7. You will need to connect a compatible handset to the gray Phone1 port located on your modem in order to use the iiNet NBN Phone service.

  8. If you want to connect your devices through WiFi, the name of the network as well as the password can be found on the barcode sticker that is located at the bottom of your modem.

TG-789 Gateway for Broadband Connections

To configure your TG-789 for use with NBN FTTB/N, please follow the instructions below.

First, ensure you have:

  • You should plug in your NBN modem, as this is a message from us to you.
  • An electrical outlet located close to the wall jack for your telephone.
  1. Establish a connection between the Power Port on your modem and an available electrical outlet using the power cables.
  2. Establish a connection between the gray DSL port located on your modem and the telephone wall socket using the phone cable that was provided.
  3. Activate the power outlet that your modem is plugged into, and then press the button labeled "Power" on the modem itself.
  4. Please wait fifteen minutes for your modem to automatically connect after it has started up.

To configure your Smart Modem Gateway (VX420-G2H) for NBN FTTB/N, please follow the instructions that are provided below.

  • Up to four Ethernet cables are optional and can be used to connect devices using Ethernet.
  1. Hook up your modem to a power source using the power cable that came with it by connecting it to the Power port on the device.
  2. Establish a connection between the gray DSL port on your modem and the telephone wall socket using a phone cable.
  3. Activate the electrical outlet that your modem is plugged into, and then press the ON/OFF button on the modem itself.
  4. Please wait fifteen minutes for your modem to automatically connect after it has started up.
  5. Make sure all of the lights on your modem are on. If the Internet indicator on the panel is lit up in green, you are free to begin connecting your devices and going online.
  6. Simply connect the Ethernet cables to any one of the four yellow LAN ports on your modem to add more devices that can be connected to your network through Ethernet cables.
  7. You need to connect a compatible handset to the PHONE port on your modem, which is labeled green, in order to use your iiNet NBN Phone service.
  8. If you wish to connect your devices through WiFi, the WiFi name and password can be found on the barcode sticker that is located on the back of the modem.

Your modem will connect all of your wireless devices to the most reliable and fastest available WiFi network (i e 5GHz) It's possible that only older devices will be able to connect to the slower 2 4GHz WiFi See also How to Improve Your WiFi Signal.

  Note for NBN services that include 4G Backup: If the 4G light on your modem is illuminated, it indicates that your modem has automatically connected to the 4G Backup service in the event that your NBN service is unavailable. This could occur, for example, during the initial setup process or during regular network maintenance. Your NBN Phone will not function if you are using 4G Backup at the same time.

If, after you have connected to the NBN, you discover that the 4G Backup service has been turned back on for an extended period of time:

  1. Restart your modem
  2. Check that the modem is plugged in properly so that you can use NBN.
  3. Please get in touch with us if the problem continues, as we may need to conduct further investigation.

VX220-G2V Modem

To configure your VX220-G2V Modem for NBN FTTB/N, please follow the instructions that are provided below.
