Green Party Platform | Federal Election, 2022

The Greens are well on their way to becoming the most powerful third party in Australia, which will allow them to maintain the delicate power balance in parliament.
By voting 1 If you vote for the Greens in the House of Representatives and the Senate and then put Labor ahead of the Liberals, you are voting to do the following:
- Vote Green for your Member of Parliament so they can fight for the causes you care about.
- Put a stop to the 114 new coal and gas projects that the Liberals and the Labor Party are supporting.
- Create more influence for the Green Party in Parliament.
- Please lend a hand to oust Scott Morrison and the Liberals from office.
- Contribute to the election of a Labor government.
We are the only party actively working to halt the 114 new coal and gas projects that have the support of the Labor Party and the Liberal Party.
In addition to resolving the housing shortage and canceling all student loans, one of our priorities is to expand Medicare to include mental and dental health services.
In this election, vote for the causes and candidates in which you believe.
Cast your ballot to oust the Liberals from office.
Vote climate Vote 1 Greens
Option 1
The how-to-vote card of the Green Party is our recommended order of voting. If you decide to play this card, it will give us the best chance of winning, and it will maximize the number of progressive MPs in Parliament who will fight for what you believe in. If you choose to follow this card, we will have the best chance of winning.
The Liberal Party is not receiving any preference votes from the Greens in any of Australia's federal seats. If you use the how-to-vote card provided by the Green Party, Labor will receive more of your preferences than the Liberals will.
The following are some of the voting strategies that our voter guide will recommend you use:
- Vote 1 Greens
- after that, put the Labor Party ahead of the Liberal Party.
Consequently, in the event that the Green Party is unable to secure a seat in your area, you can direct your vote toward helping Labor win the election and removing the Liberal Party from power.
Option 2
We use preferential voting in Australia, which means that voters indicate their preferences by placing numbers in the appropriate boxes on the ballot.
Your vote will directly go to the candidate that you rank highest:
1 In the event that your first choice does not prevail,
2 Your second option (or preference) will be taken into consideration.
3 In the event that they are unsuccessful, your third choice will be considered. And so on
Political parties do not control your preferences or where your vote goes They won't tell you how to vote; instead, they will hand you a card with some suggestions at the voting booth. It is entirely up to you to decide whether or not you will play that card.
If you are like us and you truly want to get rid of the liberals, then you should do the following:
- Vote 1 Greens
- Pick the person YOU believe should come in next.
- You should also number the other boxes and make sure to put the Labor Party ahead of the Liberal Party.
In this way, even if the Greens are unsuccessful in winning your local seat, your vote will still be able to go toward helping to elect a Labor government and removing the Liberals from office.

On the green ballot paper for the Lower House, it is our recommendation that people vote yes. 1 Start with greens, and then number the remaining boxes in the order of your preferences for the remaining options.
On the "white ballot" for the Senate, our recommendation is that people vote. 1 Greens above the line, and then number the remaining boxes, giving priority to at least five of them.
Yes We have candidates running for every seat in the country, and we have a chance of winning new ones in both the Senate and the lower house of the house. In this election, the Greens are on the verge of becoming the third party in Australia that is the most powerful overall. We already have representatives for the Green Party at each and every level of government, and in the ACT, we share power with Labor.
If you vote 1 Greens, we have the ability to oust the Liberals and put the Greens in the position of holding the balance of power.
The Green Party's platform for the Balance of Power includes measures to combat climate change by putting a halt to the development of new coal and gas mines, as well as measures to reduce the cost of living by expanding Medicare coverage to include dental and mental health services, resolving the affordability crisis in the housing market, and canceling all outstanding student loans.
There will be a shift sooner than you anticipate.
What steps can I take to prevent my vote from being invalidated?Have you ever heard someone say something along the lines of, "a vote for a minor party is a vote wasted"? Not true This is nothing more than a scare campaign orchestrated by the major parties in order to maintain the status quo of a two-party system.
Due to the preferential voting system that is used in Australia, you cannot throw away your vote. You can vote 1 vote for the party that you believe most accurately reflects your beliefs, and then, if that party doesn't win, vote for the party on your second choice. 2 This means that your vote (preference) will be counted and so on. Giving up your willpower does not result in any losses. 1 vote for one of the smaller parties.
If you vote 1 Greens, we have the ability to oust the Liberals and put the Greens in the position of holding the balance of power.
In the event that the Greens win the Balance of Power, they will work to combat climate change by putting a halt to the development of new coal and gas mines. Additionally, the Greens will work to reduce the cost of living by expanding Medicare to include dental and mental health care, resolving the affordability crisis in the housing market, and canceling all outstanding student loans. Your vote carries significant weight.
In the following video, the Australian Electoral Commission explains why it is not possible to "waste" your vote in any election.
If I vote for the Green Party, will that help the Liberals or the Labor Party? This scare tactic, which claims that voting for the Green Party is the same as voting for the Liberal Party, has been used in the past; however, this assertion is completely false. Voting for the Green Party is beneficial to the Green Party. It makes it easier for us to gain more influence in parliament so that we can fight for you.
Voting is the only thing that really matters. 1 Greens, and then make sure you rank Labor higher than the Liberals on your ballot; this will ensure that, in the event that the Greens are unsuccessful in gaining a seat in your area, your vote will go toward assisting Labor rather than the Liberals.
How can I prevent my vote from benefiting the Liberals in this election? You can help get rid of the Liberals by following the instructions on our how-to-vote card.
Vote, that's all there is to it. 1 Green, and then make sure that Labor is ranked higher than the Liberals in your vote. You are free to cast your ballot for Labor rather than the Liberal Party if the Green Party is unable to win the seat in which you are voting.
What exactly is a preference deal, though? There is no mystical moment after you cast your vote in which parties make a backroom deal to trade votes with one another.
When it comes down to it, the "preference deals" are really just about who gets a higher place on the how-to-vote card for each party. This is significant because a large number of people opt to follow the instructions on those cards; however, it is entirely up to you to decide whether or not you will.
Who would you put forward as a candidate?Labor is the party that the Greens are favoring over the Liberals. Your voting preferences will not be given to the Liberal Party if you use a Green Party how-to-vote card.
The Liberals, Clive Palmer's United Australia Party, and One Nation are now in last place across Australia thanks to the Greens. Your vote could help elect a Labor government and force the Liberals out of office, even if the Greens don't win the seat in your local election.
Have the Liberals and the Green Party reached an agreement on anything? No The Green Party would like to expel the Liberals from the party.
On our how-to-vote cards for all of Australia, we have placed the Liberal Party, Clive Palmer's United Australia Party, or One Nation in last place.
Who makes the decisions regarding what goes on the Green Party's How to Vote card? The members of the Australian Greens party, including Greens members in local branches, are responsible for making decisions regarding the order of preferences printed on our how-to-vote cards. Nobody running for office or members of parliament
During the preference negotiations, did you talk to all of the parties? No There is no point in us having conversations with political parties such as Palmer's United Australia Party or One Nation. We are aware of who they are, and we wish for them to disappear.
On our how-to-vote cards for Australia's upcoming election, the Greens have placed the Liberal Party, Clive Palmer's United Australia Party, and One Nation in last place. It really is that simple.
